Our History

of God’s Faithfulness Through The Years

The ministry of Francis and Babs Martin began in a grocery store and post office in Branch, LA with a desire to lead people to an intimate relationship with God. By the direction of the Holy Spirit in 1980, Pastor Francis bought a soybean field that would soon be the property of our first sanctuary. Pastor Francis Martin led and grew the church until 2002, when he turned the leadership role over to his associate pastor, Todd Menard, who had served as associate pastor for eleven years.

Pastor Todd's heart is to see lives transformed by the power of God and to see people experience new life in Christ. With the support of his wife Tonya and family, Pastor Todd continues to serve and impact the people of our community. Family Life is still known for its life-giving culture and focus on leading people to an intimate relationship with God.

Bro. Francis and Mrs. Babs started their ministry in Branch, LA. Preaching in a country store and post office, they had a desire to see people experience the love of God.

Family Life Christian Fellowship held its first church service in an old monastery on Johnston Street.

Taking a step of obedience, Bro. Francis purchased a soybean field with faith to build a church.

Pastor Francis and members of the church began construction on Family Life's first building at 2223 Dulles Drive in Lafayette.

After 5 months of construction, Family Life Christian Fellowship held its first service on the property.

Family Life Christian Academy opened its doors in Lafayette with 35 students in attendance with the heart to focus on academics as well as spiritual growth. FLCA operated for 37 years closing in 2018.

Family Life Christian Fellowship continued to grow. The building was modified twice to accommodate the need to seat 800 people.

With a need for a bigger facility, construction began on the new sanctuary to accommodate 1,500 people.

The first service was held in the new sanctuary.

Pastor Francis Martin handed over the leadership of the church to his associate pastor, Todd Menard, who had served alongside him in ministry for eleven years.

Present Day

As we move forward, our hope is to see more lives changed through the gift of salvation, more relationships built through life groups, and more people discovering their purpose as they serve others and become the hands and feet of Jesus in their communities.
